Privacy Policy

Parties (“we,” “our,” or “the Service”) shows your Partiful events together on a map. This policy explains what information Parties collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

Account information

When you sign in with Google, we may receive basic account information such as your name, email address, profile picture, and Google account identifier. When you sign up with email, we receive your email address. We use this information only to create and manage your Parties account. Sign-in is provided through Supabase Authentication. Parties never receives or stores your Google password.

Calendar information

If you connect your Partiful or Luma calendar, you give Parties your personal calendar subscription link. Parties uses that feed to read event information, including the event title, start and end time, location, Partiful event link, RSVP state as expressed in the calendar title, and other fields included in the feed. Event descriptions are read only to find the event link and are not stored.

Treat your calendar link as private: it can reveal information about your events. Parties stores it encrypted on the server and uses it only to sync your events.

Events you add by link

If you paste a Partiful event link, our server reads that event’s public page once to copy its title, time, and location onto your schedule. Nothing is sent to Partiful on your behalf, and your RSVP is unchanged until you respond on Partiful.

Public events nearby

Parties shows a layer of public events for a city you choose, from Luma’s public city listing, Partiful’s public trending page, and, for event weeks, the public SF Tech Week and TOKEN2049 Singapore calendars. Our server fetches those public pages on its own schedule; nothing about you is sent to either service. Your chosen city is kept in a cookie, and you can hide the layer with the “Public events” toggle, which is remembered in your browser.

Favorites and preferences

Events you mark as favorites are stored with your account so they appear on every device you sign in from. Preferences for the signed-out demo stay in your browser.

Location information

Parties sends event addresses from your calendar, and any location you type for an event, to a third-party geocoding service, currently Geoapify, to turn an address into map coordinates. If you tap “Show my location” on the map, your browser asks for permission and the position is used only in your browser to draw a dot. It is not sent to our servers. On your first visit, if your browser allows it, one position reading picks the nearest city for the public events layer; only the chosen city name is kept, in a cookie, and your coordinates are never stored or sent.

Technical and usage information

We may collect limited technical information needed to operate and secure the Service, such as server logs, error information, timestamps, and request metadata. We also use PostHog for simple product analytics: which pages are viewed and which features are used, such as filters, favorites, and syncs. These events carry no event titles, addresses, calendar links, or email addresses, and we do not record sessions.

How we use information

  • Authenticate your account
  • Import and synchronize your Partiful events
  • Display your events on a map and schedule
  • Convert event addresses into map coordinates
  • Diagnose errors and improve reliability
  • Protect Parties from abuse or unauthorized access

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your event information for advertising.

Third-party services

Parties relies on these providers to operate:

  • Google, for Google sign-in
  • Supabase, for authentication and database services
  • Geoapify, for address geocoding
  • OpenFreeMap and OpenStreetMap data, for map display
  • Fly.io, for application hosting
  • PostHog, for product analytics
  • Partiful and Luma, as the sources of the calendars you choose to connect

These providers process information under their own privacy policies. Parties is an independent application and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Partiful.

Data storage and security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information. Your calendar link is encrypted at rest and handled only on the server. No method of online storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data retention

We keep account and event information for as long as needed to provide Parties to you. We may keep limited logs or backups for security, reliability, and legal purposes.

Your choices

You may stop using Parties at any time. You can also ask us to delete your Parties account and associated stored data by contacting us. Deleting your Parties account does not delete information held by Partiful, Google, or other third-party services.

Children’s privacy

Parties is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Parties evolves. If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
